sensi star strain review (namaste) info block

This award-winning Sensi Star cultivar is up there when it comes to popular strains worldwide; Paradise Seeds lists a 1st prize at the 1999 High Times Cannabis Cup among its wins. This specific one that’s grown by Namaste is an Indica-dominant strain.

This batch was on the lower end for THC, with very little CBD. Sensi Star is a fan favorite among growers for its high-yielding flower.

The terpene profile on this batch's label was led by limonene, which you can really feel in the aroma, combined with caryophyllene and myrcene.

Lineage: Sensi Star comes from Paradise Seeds, which describes it as a mostly Indica strain built on Afghani genetics "with a hint of sativa."

A note on numbers: THC and CBD percentages and terpene profiles vary by grower and batch, so treat the details here as one sample and check the label on the product you buy.

Packaging Details: This was packaged on 11/14/2019 and tested/reviewed on 01/06/2020, exactly 53 days after being packaged.

Pricing Details: Purchased 3.5 grams for $24.60 at the SQDC in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. ($7.03/gram).

This product was bought legally in Canada, where adults can buy from retailers authorized by their province or territory. The minimum age is 19 in most provinces, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec.

In the US, marijuana is still a Schedule I drug under federal law outside narrow 2026 exceptions for FDA-approved and state-licensed medical products, and state laws differ.

Appearance: 2.5/5

The first thing that I noticed is how messy the bright orange pistils are, sticking out from all around the buds (Which is not the case with other Sensi Stars that I’ve tried out like the ones grown by 7 Acres or Dubon). The leaves are of a very light green shade, almost lime green, and the trichomes are really shiny and cover the buds completely.

My reasoning for lowering the score has to do with the nugs themselves; there were too many small ones for my liking, there was also some dryness to this batch.

Aroma: 3.5/5

The aroma was delightful; the limonene really stood out with the citrusy earthy scents that came out of the freshly sealed container. There are also some peppery, herbal, and piney notes; it’s quite the complicated profile.

The smell didn’t get much more intense when I broke up the weed, because it was already strong to begin with.

Flavor: 2/5

I felt as though, unlike the aroma, something was missing in the flavor. It was kind of bland, mostly just a subtle earthy taste on the inhale, and somewhat woody on the exhale and the after taste. The sweetness was not apparent, and I found that there were no citrusy notes that you found in the smell. It was still a very smooth sensation when smoking.

Effects: 4/5

I enjoyed the effects of this lower-THC batch. It was a calm and comfortable high, soothing without knocking me out. Dry mouth was definitely present.

My energy didn’t fully drop, and my focus was still there.

Effects differ from person to person, and NIDA notes that anxiety, panic and hallucinations are more likely with strong THC products or large amounts. Start low if you're new.

Overall: 3/5

After spending a couple of days with this cultivar, I can understand why it’s been a fan favorite for so many years.

The quality of this flower is above-average overall, and although I wasn’t delighted with the look or the flavor of it, I would still recommend this to adult everyday users and beginners as well (like Cuban Linx which is smooth enough for beginners and costs about the same), as the high won’t overwhelm a beginner (Unlike Houseplant Indica, which is pretty strong for beginners) while still satisfying the heavy user.
