Pink Kush Strain Review (San Rafael ’71)

Contents

I tried out some Pink Kush that’s made by San Rafael ’71 for this cannabis strain review, and I was pretty impressed by this cultivar overall. It’s a well-known strain that’s been around for years.
This Indica-dominant Pink Kush is sold as a high-THC strain with very little CBD. Exact numbers vary by grower and batch, so check the label on the package you buy.
You can compare it with the Pink Kush by Laurentian Organic as well.

This product was bought in Canada, where legal cannabis is sold only through retailers authorized by provinces and territories. The minimum age is 19 in most provinces, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec. In the US, marijuana is still a Schedule I drug under federal law outside a 2026 DEA rule that moved only FDA-approved products and state-licensed medical marijuana to Schedule III, and state laws differ.
Appearance: 2.5/5

What makes this strain stand out in terms of visuals is the coating of amber, healthy-looking trichomes all over the dark green buds with navy and bright purple leaves; the trichomes have a shine to them that you don’t see every day. There weren’t too many little popcorn nugs, so the bag appeal was definitely there.
What brought the score down a little for me was the humidity content; this came in at 38%, which was quite dry, with no humidity pack; having one would make this whole experience better.

Aroma: 3/5
After bringing the humidity content up to 61% by re-hydrating the weed for 24 hours with a Boveda pack, the terps were JUMPING out of the container, talk about a smelly strain! Heavy scents of diesel and pine hit the nose right away, accented with sweet vanilla notes.
The smell wasn’t subtle either; if this were in a baggy, everybody that would pass by you would smell it through your pockets! Remember when somebody in high school opened up a bag with weed in it, and you can smell it from the other side of the lockers? Good times!
Flavor: 3.5/5

The flavor of this cultivar was actually slightly different than the aroma. I found that the diesel taste was very aggressive on the inhale; you can taste the sweet pines and floral notes on the exhale and the aftertaste. The smoke on this was white, thick, and smooth.
Effects: 3/5
As the most subjective aspect of this Pink Kush strain review, this was a little too much for me. I enjoy the couch-glue strains that really get you stoned from time to time, but I didn’t feel like smoking any of this the next day.
I could not really do any work or focus much after trying this out throughout the day, and I also didn’t feel like socializing much. This Pink Kush is known for its strong psychoactive effects, and some newer consumers can get that anxiety/paranoia feeling from this strain.
Effects differ from person to person, and NIDA notes that anxiety, panic and hallucinations are more likely with strong THC products or large amounts. Start low if you're new.
Overall: 3/5

I found this to be a pretty solid product from San Rafael ’71, just like their Tangerine Dream that I’ve tried out before. I would not recommend this to complete beginners; this may actually get you a little too high. So if you’re not used to this strong type of weed, GO SLOW.
For everyday consumers, this may be up your alley if you enjoy getting REALLY high; I have a high tolerance and still found this to be strong as hell. If you’ve tried some of this Pink Kush before, let me know what you think in the comments below!
