When I first heard about the Monkey Butter Strain, I was not excited to try it, since many of the reviews were negative. So, I tried it myself and wrote this Monkey Butter Strain review to share my experience.

Sold by Good Supply, Monkey Butter is an Indica-dominant strain that stands out for its low price. It may be an option for people on a budget.

  • Type: Indica-dominant Hybrid
  • Potency: High THC, very low CBD (exact numbers vary by batch)
  • Terpene Profile: Beta-caryophyllene, cedrene, humulene (as labeled on this batch)
  • Packaging Details: Packaged on 10/26/2022, tested and reviewed on 11/28/2022 (33 days later)
  • Pricing Details: Purchased 3.5 grams for $17.96 at Ontario Cannabis Store ($5.13 per gram)

A note on numbers: THC and CBD percentages and terpene profiles vary by grower and batch, so treat the details here as one sample and check the label on the product you buy. We could not confirm the lineage on an official breeder page, so we left it out.

This product was bought legally in Ontario, where adults 19 and older can buy from authorized retailers such as the government-run online store. In the US, marijuana is still a Schedule I drug under federal law outside narrow 2026 exceptions for FDA-approved and state-licensed medical products, and state laws differ.

Appearance: 3/5

Visually, there's room for improvement. The nugs are on the smaller side and lack the size and density of some other strains. What they lack in size, they make up for in careful trimming.

Brown pistils add contrast to the mostly green buds. The mix of dark and light green gives them a somewhat mottled appearance.

Aroma: 3/5

When I opened the bag, Monkey Butter gave off an initial burst of earthy and sweet aromas. That first impression fades rather quickly.

The batch's label listed beta-caryophyllene, cedrene, and humulene. Beta-caryophyllene adds a subtle spiciness and woodiness, cedrene a woody note, and humulene, also found in hops, a slightly herbal and earthy one.

Flavor: 3.5/5

The flavor mirrors the aroma. My first inhale had a pronounced nutty and earthy taste.

As I kept smoking, the flavors became less pronounced with each hit. A subtle hint of sweetness came through near the end, for a pleasant finish.

Effects: 3.5/5

In my experience, Monkey Butter gave a mild but noticeable physical tingle. The mental effect was rather light, lacking the heavy cerebral effects of some other strains.

That made it feel more functional for me than heavier hybrids like the Legendary Larry strain. It left me mellow and relaxed without couch lock.

Any cannabis can still impair thinking and coordination, and NIDA notes that anxiety and panic are more likely at high doses. Don't drive after using it.

If you want a stronger, more intense high, Monkey Butter might fall short of your expectations.

Overall: 3/5

My experience with Monkey Butter by Good Supply leaves me with mixed feelings. It's an Indica-dominant strain with a subtle, mild high.

Its low price and functional effects make it an option for adults on a budget. Its appearance, aroma, and flavor leave something to be desired, though.
